It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Philip Barter, an iconic figure in the realm of Maine art. Philip's indelible mark on the art world is undeniable. His recent passing leaves a void in the artistic community, but his legacy will endure through his body of work. In remembrance of Philip Barter and to honor his contributions to the art world, we are rereleasing a video interview where he shares his insights, inspirations, and creative journey. Philip's passion for capturing the essence of Maine's landscapes and his ability to evoke wonder through his art have left an indelible impression on all who have encountered his work. As Carl Little aptly describes, Philip Barter's art echoes the spirit of American Modernists like Marsden Hartley, inspiring a generation of artists and admirers alike. His unique vision, vibrant palette, and masterful rendering of nature have cemented his place in the pantheon of great artists. Through this video interview, we invite you to revisit Philip Barter's artistic brilliance, to reflect on his profound impact, and to celebrate the enduring legacy he leaves behind. May his art continue to inspire and captivate for generations to come. Our deepest condolences go out to Philip Barter's loved ones, friends, and admirers during this difficult time. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who have been touched by his remarkable talent and spirit.

Page Eastburn O’Rourke spent decades developing a successful career based on a creative style she called “Pop Folk Art,” that became beloved by loyal collectors of her work. She hopes that her new work will be even more appealing to those who have come to love and appreciate her approach. Page recalls a “lightning bolt” moment while exploring the Left Bank in Paris that convinced her of the clear immediate need to shift her painting to a more abstract form. Although this change represents a potential risk to her current success, Page has no regrets about her decision to embrace her truth and take hold of her future, as she fully pursues significant artistic growth. Join our conversation with Page Eastburn O’Rourke today on Radio Maine.
