Congratulations to Drummond Woodsum’s Michael-Corey Francis Hinton, Erick Giles, Daina Nathanson, and Brittany Michaud on successful negotiations paving the way for the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument Welcome Center to open in August 2024. Our team represented Elliotsville Foundation, Inc (EFI), managing significant legal work in connection with several portions of the overall effort to construct a brand new National Park Service (NPS) “Visitor Contact Station” near the Katahdin Woods and Waters Monument. The design and architecture of the new facility and the surrounding landscape is almost exclusively inspired and designed by Wabanaki artists and advisors. 𝗘𝗣𝗔 𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝗙𝗔𝗦 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 In late April 2024, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized two PFAS rules that will impact municipal, school, and tribal entities. The first rule sets maximum contaminant levels (MCLs), or drinking water standards, for five separate PFAS compounds and a hazard index for a sixth PFAS compound. The second new EPA rule designates two PFAS compounds as “hazardous substances” under the federal Superfund Law. This is a very complex area of the law, involving state, federal and, in some cases, tribal laws. Our experienced attorneys are available to discuss the new rules and how they impact you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions. Read the full article at dwmlaw.com: https://lnkd.in/eQ4Mtm-w
